The Fresno Police Department said that officers responded to a social media threat of a shooting at Scandinavian Middle School made on Monday.

The department reported the incident Tuesday on an Instagram post.

Detectives identified and arrested a 13-year-old Scandinavian student on suspicion of making a felony criminal threat.

Detectives said that they found no evidence suggesting that the student intended to carry out the threat.

Authorities urge parents and guardians to discuss the serious consequences of online threats with their children and to actively monitor their social media activity.
