On Tuesday, July 30, the United States reached a milestone of 3,000 all-time medals at the Paris Games — the first country ever to do so.

Headed into this year’s summer games, the U.S. had accumulated 2,975 medals at previous summer and winter Olympics, as tallied by the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage.

There are many more medal opportunities for the U.S. before the Paris Games end on Sunday, Aug. 11.
