Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a father and son in connection with a recent Mendota murder.

Javier Medina Sr., 61, and his son, Javier “Juju” Medina Jr., 38, were booked into Fresno County Jail early Wednesday morning.

Medina Sr. is charged with accessory to murder and had an outstanding warrant for child molestation, while Medina Jr. is charged with murder, authorities said.

The homicide happened on July 5 near Shields and Fairfax Avenues, just outside of Mendota. Upon arrival, deputies were directed to a cornfield where they found the body of Antonio Torres Ochoa, 37, of Mendota.

Homicide detectives launched an investigation and identified Medina Jr. as the primary suspect. He was arrested at his home for murder.

A search warrant at the father’s home in Mendota led to the arrest of Medina Sr. for being an accessory to murder.

Authorities believe that the victim and suspects knew each other. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motive.
