A high-speed pursuit on the night of June 22 ended in a dramatic crash and arrest, according to the Fresno Sheriff’s office.
The incident began when a deputy saw a 2020 Chevy Camaro ZL1 speeding near Highway 180 and McCall Avenue. When the deputy turned on his lights, the Camaro disappeared from view and a law enforcement helicopter was called in to assist.

California Highway Patrol’s Fresno aircraft, AIR 43, responded and located the speeding vehicle. Over the course of six minutes, AIR 43 tracked the Camaro as it covered 12 miles, reaching speeds of up to 165 mph.
The driver ran multiple red lights and recklessly swerved through traffic. At the intersection of Church and Cedar avenues in Calwa, the driver narrowly avoided a collision with three vehicles before losing control and crashing.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Aaron Campos, of Fresno, managed to exit the vehicle and walk away from the scene.
Campos was taken to the hospital and arrested for reckless driving and evading police.

The deputy also submitted a request to the DMV for the immediate revocation of Campos’ driver’s license.
