Madera Police Crack Down on Firearm Offenders Over July 4 Weekend

Madera police made several arrests and seized multiple firearms over Independence Day weekend.

Officers responded to a report of several people in masks waving a firearm on Country Club Drive near Highway 99.

Officers found seven people matching the description provided. Two of them had loaded Glock-style “ghost” handguns. A third firearm was found in a vehicle.

Police arrested three people on multiple weapons-related charges and booked them at the Madera County Jail.

In another incident, an officer was patrolling Kennedy Street and Jericho Drive when he tried to stop a boy.

The boy fled but was quickly apprehended and found to be in possession of a loaded Glock-style “ghost” handgun.

He was arrested and booked at the Madera County Juvenile Detention Facility on several firearm-related charges.
