Ramirez faces one count of accessory after the fact (Penal Code §32).

If convicted, Garcia faces 75 years to life in prison, while Ramirez faces up to three years.

Garcia was arrested on July 1, 2024, and is scheduled for arraignment on July 3, 2024, in Fresno County Superior Court. Ramirez, arrested on June 28, 2024, has bonded out and is scheduled for arraignment on July 16, 2024.

Original Story

On Monday, detectives from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-olds Joshua Garcia and Jace Ramirez, both of Fresno, in connection with the 2022 shooting death of 19-year-old Angel Zuniga.

Garcia has been booked into the Fresno County Jail and is being held without bail, authorities said. Ramirez was arrested as an accessory to the homicide. Ramirez has since posted bond and been released from jail.

The arrests stem from Zuniga’s killing on Oct. 29, 2022, when the sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 1:30 a.m. reporting shots fired at 8096 E. Hedges Ave in Fresno.

The location was hosting a large Halloween costume party attended by about 200 guests. A disturbance broke out, and shots were fired, hitting Zuniga, who died at the scene.

Most of the partygoers quickly fled the home following the shooting.

Despite initial efforts, the case went cold. Recently, detectives issued public appeals for information, which led to tips identifying Garcia and Ramirez as suspects.
