Sunny and Cher, the inseparable duo who found their temporary haven at Sunnyside High School last summer, captured the hearts of all who crossed their paths.

Cher, the wise matriarch at 5 years old, and Sunny, her energetic 2-year-old offspring, became local celebrities during their stay.

Despite countless attempts by kind-hearted souls to coax them into a cozy home, the pair proved elusive, preferring the freedom of their schoolyard sanctuary.

As autumn faded into winter’s chill, concern grew for the furry friends. Resolute in their bond, it was clear they belonged together.

Cher, with her independent spirit, and Sunny, the social butterfly who adored canine company, complemented each other perfectly. Their shared love for food — a passion they indulged in freely — endeared them even more to those hoping to bring them in from the cold.

It wasn’t until a compassionate local community mobilized, determined to find them a forever home, that the tide turned. With a touch of luck and a lot of patience, the dynamic duo was finally captured and brought to safety.

Now, looking for a place to call their own, Sunny and Cher await a family who will cherish their affectionate natures and their penchant for lounging on the couch together, side by side.
