Fresno residents were shocked Thursday morning when checking their iPhones to find Apple Weather forecasting a scorching high of 121 degrees for Saturday, July 6.

The Apple forecast sharply contrasts the National Weather Service in Hanford’s prediction of a peak between 108 and 111 degrees.

According to the NWS, there is a 2% chance of temperatures close to 121 degrees that day at China Lake, 2.5 miles north of Ridgecrest in the Kern County portion of the Mojave Desert.

Fresno’s all-time heat record is 115 degrees set on July 8, 1905.

As of early Thursday afternoon, Apple has updated their weather forecast to predict 112 degrees as the high for July 6.

This Weekend’s Weather

The NWS forecast calls for a Friday high of 97 and low of 68, 101 with a low of 69 on Saturday, and 100 with a low of 71 on Sunday.
