Watch: Ali Velshi Exposes AIPAC’s Growing Influence in US Elections
AIPAC’s strong pro-Israel influence has shaped American policy in the Middle East and decisions to support Israel with $2.7 billion in annual military aid starting in 1999 and escalating to $3.8 billion today.
But, as MSNBC’s Ali Velshi reports, AIPAC also began endorsing candidates and contributing directly to campaigns. Since then, it has been among the top spenders in politics, contributing to the campaigns of 342 Congressmembers.
AIPAC’s political action committee contributed $50 million in the 2022 congressional races, most of which went to incumbents but also funded primary and general election challengers. Its contributions are expected to rise to $100 million in the 2024 congressional elections.
