Faculty and staff at the University of Texas are voicing their loss of trust in the university’s administration following a pro-Palestine protest that ended with dozens of arrests. The faculty-led protest was a response to the university’s handling of a previous demonstration, which they believe was an overreaction.
The faculty and staff, who organized under the name “UT Austin Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine,” criticized University President Jay Harul for the heavy law enforcement presence and are now calling for his resignation.
Harul defended the law enforcement presence, stating that protesters intended to occupy the campus and included individuals not affiliated with UT.
