Pacific Gas and Electric has scheduled a town hall meeting Tuesday on wildfire safety prevention for Valley and Sierra residents including Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, and Merced counties.
Tonight’s town hall is part of a series of webinars in the PG&E service area of Northern California.
The company last year was authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission to bury more than 1,000 miles of power lines to reduce wildfire risks, at a cost to PG&E customers of $4.7 billion. The PUC rejected a proposal that would have reduced the amount of buried lines and cut the cost to customers by more than half.
That and other rate hikes have caused PG&E bills to soar this year.
The webinar will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. and can be reached through this Microsoft Teams link.
Attendees also can dial in to ask questions and provide feedback using this phone number: 800-369-1776, Conference ID: 8077600
