Two tiny puppies huddled in a soggy west Valley vineyard were rescued Tuesday by a Fresno County sheriff’s deputy. The puppies are now warm and dry and in the custody of Fresno Humane Animal Services.

Deputy Andrew Rechsteiner was on patrol when he was learned that abandoned puppies were by the side of the road at Oakland and El Dorado avenues near Coalinga. Rechsteiner found the white-and-tan duo, wet and cold and huddled next to the busy roadway.

He was able to corral the pups, wrap them in towels, and put them in the back seat of his patrol car for a ride to the Fresno Humane Animal Services.

For more information about adopting the puppies, check the Fresno Humane Animal Services website at https://www.fresnohumane.org/.
