Kevin James Strutz, 52, received a sentence of three years and four months in federal prison for the cyberstalking of two women.

Stutz will be under supervised release for three years after exiting prison. The court also ordered him to pay $1,773 restitution.

U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced the sentencing in a news release.

According to court documents, Strutz secretly made a video recording of an adult female staying at an Airbnb where Strutz was living in Ceres in February 2020.

The victim ended her stay when she found a message on a cell phone left by Strutz in a shared bathroom. Over the next few months, Strutz contacted the victim via multiple Facebook accounts. One of the messages had an image of the victim leaving the Airbnb shower made secretly by Strutz.

Prosecutors said that Strutz sent the image to her with a demand that she send him a sexually explicit video or he would send the image to her friends and family.

Agents Find a Second Victim

Investigators later learned that between September and December 2018, Strutz sent electronic messages and handwritten letters to a second female victim.

Strutz left 15 handwritten letters on the victim’s vehicle, many of which had threats designed to coerce the victim into having sex with him. He also sent messages to the victim from five different Facebook accounts and attempted to contact her on the phone.

The FBI and Ceres police investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gappa.
