Maria Sharapova, the former world number one tennis player, is set to return to the court after retiring in 2020 due to chronic shoulder problems. Sharapova, who won five Grand Slam titles during her career, will be partnering with John McEnroe in a pickleball match against Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. The match is part of the second season of the Pickleball Slam, which will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Miami on February 4.

Pickleball, a sport that is rapidly gaining popularity in the United States, is played on a smaller court than tennis and uses plastic balls and paddles. Last year’s Pickleball Slam featured a $1 million cash prize and included players such as John McEnroe, Michael Chang, Andre Agassi, and Andy Roddick.

The Professional Pickleball Association recently signed former No.5, Eugenie Bouchard, to a tour. The sport has seen a surge in popularity, with high-profile team owners including Nick Kyrgios, Naomi Osaka, and LeBron James.
