A small fire forced one of Fresno’s iconic bakeries to shut its doors on Monday.

Workers and owners of La Boulangerie in Fig Garden Village spent Monday cleaning up after a fire in the bathroom shut the bakery down, according to a representative with the business. The store should be back baking its famous breads and pastries Tuesday, the person said.

Updates will be provided on the store’s social media pages, according to the representative.

The fire appears to have started in the vent, the person said. The Business Journal reported the downtown Fresno location also closed Monday.

The French bakery opened in Fresno in 1980, selling breads, pastries, and cakes. They opened their Downtown Fresno walkup window opened in 2020.
