The “X” burger at Wayback Burgers stacks nicely — for a while.

The northwest Fresno burger purveyor is offering its 10-patty delight through the end of August. And, general manager Mod Gazali says it’s selling well.

“We like to be on top of pop culture. Elon Musk renamed Twitter ‘X.’ So we have the X burger, 10 patties,” Gazali said.

And, Gazali said, anyone named Elon (with proof) can eat for free. Otherwise, it’s $26.99.

Why would anyone need that much burger in one sitting?

Gazali jokes that it’s enough of a meal to eat for the week.

“They usually take a box home,” Gazali said. “It’s considered a family meal.”

While the X is for a limited time, Wayback also offers a nine-patty burger permanently for $24.49. Both items are on the “secret” menu. They come with a choice of cheese and any assortment of condiments.

Wayback is at the Marketplace at El Paseo, 6493 N Riverside Dr.

Knife and Fork Required

Appetite for Fresno sampled the X, and it does stack nicely, at least until you try to take a bite. The patties are smash-style, cooked fresh on the grill, and do fit in between two buns.

Eating it is another story. Unless you have an unhinged jaw like a snake, a fork and knife are required. The stack became a Leaning Tower of Burger, before splitting like a deck of cards when trying to eat it like a civilized human being.

“I don’t think it’s possible (to eat with your mouth). And if so, that would be an incredible feat,” Gazali said.

The nine-patty or X is a good deal per patty. Adding an extra patty to a burger at Wayback costs $3.49.

So, why not call the nine-patty the “IX?”

“I’ll talk to Wayback about that,” Gazali said. “That’s a good idea.”
