A jury found Oscar Jose Morales Jr., 47, of Sanger, and Sabino Palacios Jr., 44, of Parlier, guilty during their trial last month.

According to prosecutors, on Jan. 25, 2020, Morales and Palacios traveled from Sanger to Lindsay armed with firearms and intent on robbing Albert Lopez.

After Lopez refused their demand for narcotics, Morales shot and killed Lopez.

Detectives with the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium arrested Morales and Palacios three months later in connection with a larger investigation into street gangs in Sanger and Selma.

Fresno County senior deputy district attorney Robert Veneman-Hughes prosecuted the case.
