The State Center Community College District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Tuesday afternoon to discuss appointing a new chancellor.

The special meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. and precede the regular board meeting scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held virtually on Zoom.

The trustees will go into a closed session at the special meeting to talk about the appointment. When they emerge, they are required by the state’s public meeting laws to announce any actions taken during the closed session.

The three chancellor candidates are Dr. Carole Goldsmith, president of Fresno City College; Dr. Beatriz Espinoza, who is working at Laredo Community College in Texas as a consultant on a National Science Foundation grant; and Dr. Omid Pourzanjani, former superintendent/president of San Joaquin Delta Community College District in Stockton.

The district’s former chancellor, Paul Parnell, retired in July. Dr. Douglas Houston has been serving as interim chancellor.
