The messages about COVID-19 vaccine availability on public health websites up and down the Valley speak for themselves.

Fresno County says, “All appointment times have been filled.”

“We’re asking everybody to please remain patient as the demand for this vaccine far outweighs the supply.”– Tulare County Public Information Officer Carrie Monteiro

Kings County says, “There are currently no vaccine appointments available.”

Tulare County says, “All Vaccine appointments at Tulare County Public Health Clinics are FULL.”

“We’re asking everybody to please remain patient as the demand for this vaccine far outweighs the supply,” Tulare County Public Information Officer Carrie Monteiro tells GV Wire℠ by phone. “More will be coming online as soon as we have enough supply to support them.”

In Madera County, where no ICU beds are available, the word is, “Registration for vaccine clinics are full. Federal and State vaccine supply is limited. More clinics will be scheduled when vaccines are available.”

United Health Centers Fresno County Clinic Full

“No more mobile events are scheduled until the County can provide more doses to us.” – United Health Center Community Development Officer David Phillips

The United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley have two more drive-thru vaccination clinics set for Thursday and Friday at the Central High School East campus. The schedule is full for both days with a total of 1,000 vaccinations.

“No more mobile events are scheduled until the County can provide more doses to us,” says United Health Center Community Development Officer David Phillips to GV Wire℠ by email. “We are not scheduling any more mobile events until early February.”

Phillips says they have several other locations scattered throughout the county that will be used for vaccine administration.

“We are also waiting on vaccines to roll out to our various health centers,” says Phillips.

Madera County Cancels Vaccine Clinics

In a press release, Madera County Department of Public Health said that due to a vaccine shortage all planned vaccination clinics at the Social Services Building were canceled for the remainder of this week.

MCDPH staff, Madera County 311 Operators, and Madera County Sheriff’s Office Volunteers have told people with appointments about the cancellations.

Those getting a cancellation call will receive priority scheduling as soon as the vaccine supply permits. Those whose appointments were canceled can expect a phone call and email notification to reschedule.

Second doses have been reserved for those who received their first dose. No one who received their initial dose at MCDPH is in jeopardy of missing their required second dose, officials said.

Tulare County Will Honor Appointments Through Next Week

“We took a pause and we’re waiting for our vaccine inventory to build back up before we start rolling out future appointments,” explained Monteiro. The county receives a shipment of vaccines once a week from the state.

Monteiro wants to assure everyone that received the first dose not to worry about their second dose as the county is holding those back for them.

Appointments scheduled through this week and next are still good.

The county operates three drive-thru clinics that will be put on hold. They’re at Porterville College, College of the Sequoias, and the International AgRi-Center. In addition to the mass vaccination sites, the county is close to bringing other healthcare providers online that can receive and administer the vaccine directly.

So far, the county has vaccinated 8,000 people.

If people haven’t already made an appointment for their second shot, the health department will contact them. Some people that received their first dose at a clinic last weekend were able to schedule their second dose appointment on-site through a computer system the state had set up. However, that system went down about halfway through the process.

“We’re going to make direct contact (with them) because we have their information from registering for their first dose,” Monteiro said.

Clinica Sierra Vista

Clinica Sierra Vista operates clinics in Fresno and Kern counties. As of Wednesday, all online appointments were paused.

However, vaccination operations are scheduled to resume in Fresno at the Elm location on Thursday. Patients previously scheduled for appointments this week are being contacted to re-schedule their spot beginning Thursday.

Meanwhile, vaccination locations in Kern County are on hold until further supplies can be obtained by the public health department.
