The Central Valley Hot Rod Coalition took a cruise down Pollasky Avenue in Clovis on Sunday to collect toys for children in need in partnership with non-profit AMORelief. Granville Homes was also a sponsor. (Darius Assemi is Granville Homes president/CEO and also the publisher of GVWire.)
Organizers estimate about 600 classic vehicles cruised the street, making it one of the car group’s largest events yet according to YourCentralValley.

“We can’t find words to express our gratitude! A BIG thank you to the Hot Rod Coalition for generously putting together a toy drive this past weekend in Old Town Clovis!,” AMOR posted on Facebook. “HUNDREDS of toys were donated that will go to children in need this holiday season!”
The toys will be distributed to Central Valley children in time for Christmas.

Generosity of Hot Rod Community
“One thing that I always say about the hot rod community is we’re a pretty quiet bunch, but our hearts are so big,” founder Anthony Granata told the television station. “I’ve been around hot rods my whole life — anything the hot rod community gets behind is successful and it’s done selflessly. I’m glad that every once in a while, the public can see it’s not just car shows and loud motors but it’s doing this for a purpose.”

Saturday Distribution Scheduled
AMOR is planning a drive-through toy distribution on Saturday in partnership with Girl Scouts of Central California South at the nonprofit’s Mendota Wellness Center.
The two-building, 20,000 sq. foot resource center houses a variety of community benefit organizations, agencies and nonprofits providing services including medical, dental, mental health, social, family and youth services.
