A search by officers with the Kern County Probation Department resulted in the seizure of large caliber firearms, ammunition, drugs, and cash in Lamont, southeast of Bakersfield on Friday.
Two suspects, including a 16-year-old juvenile, were arrested on weapons and narcotics charges as a result of a probation search in the 10000 block of Tatum St., the department said in a Facebook post.
The weapons included two large caliber rifles, a short barrel shotgun, two handguns, over 300 rounds of miscellaneous ammunition, and over a pound of marijuana. Officers seized $1,722 in cash, as well. One of the handguns was listed as stolen.
The arrests “are examples of the Probation Department’s ongoing commitment to hold offenders accountable for criminal conduct and violations of supervised release,” the Facebook post said. The search was conducted by officers with the department’s Regional Supervision Unit along with officers with the Adult Division, officials said.
