The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno said late Friday afternoon that all daily and Sunday masses will be suspended starting Monday through Sunday, March 29, because of the coronavirus.
In addition, the diocese is closing all of its schools during the same time frame. The suspension of activities extends to athletics and other school events.
“Urgent pastoral needs will be responded to according to each parish’s pastor’s administrator’s directives,” the diocese said in a news release.
The diocese also said that “masses being celebrated this weekend will allow our clergy an opportunity to speak with their parishioners who chose to attend so that they may be better informed and assured
that these protective measures are necessary out of care and concern for all God’s people.”
