Anything, of course, can happen on a given Saturday in college football.
But all indications point to 0-2 Fresno State getting its first victory of the season when the Bulldogs host (0-1) Sacramento State.
Listen to this article:
Moreover, Fresno State has throttled FSC opponents — which are limited to 63 scholarships —by an average of more than 32 points this decade. As a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision, Fresno State grants 85 scholarships. Meaning: Fresno State should dominate opponents such as Sacramento State.
Fresno State Wins Nearly 76% of the Time at Home
There’s another interesting stat that applies to this matchup, as well.
Since Bulldog Stadium opened in 1980, Fresno State has enjoyed one of the most dominant home-field advantages in the country.
In fact, the Bulldogs are 179-56-2 at home for a 75.9% winning percentage — 16th best in the country. That is No. 2 in the Mountain West, trailing only Boise State, which has won 82.7% of its games since Albertson Stadium opened in 1970.
And, the Bulldogs have been more successful at home than such traditional powers as BYU, Nebraska, Florida State, Notre Dame, USC, Florida, Clemson, and Miami.
Who has the biggest home-field edge in the country?
Until this season, it was Alabama at 83.1%. But Old Dominion won its first game at its new stadium and will remain No. 1 until losing a home game.
