The Fresno Historical Society is 100 years old.
And it will celebrate with a Centennial Gala this Saturday, 7:30 pm to 11:45 pm, at Kearney Mansion.

“At our Centennial Gala, the landmark Kearney Mansion and grounds will be transformed into the lush and splendid venue that is a cultural touchstone of that bygone era.” — Fresno Historical Society
Indeed, the society invites Fresno area residents to “party like it’s 1919” in the great tradition of novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jay Gatsby.
If you haven’t read Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby,” here is what you need to know:  Millionaire Jay Gatsby threw extravagant parties at his luxurious mansion.

Food, Drink, High-Wire Entertainment and a Casino

Says the Fresno Historical Society:
“At our Centennial Gala, the landmark Kearney Mansion and grounds will be transformed into the lush and splendid venue that is a cultural touchstone of that bygone era … champagne and crystal, rhinestones and pearls and plumage, whimsy and revelry, lively dancing from shimmy to burlesque, astonishing high-wire entertainments and magic, an array of epicurean delights, casino tables and a kaleidoscope of libations, a warm and welcoming historic home and veranda to investigate and, for those who wish to party like it’s 1919, a secret speakeasy.”
The award-winning Painted Table is catering the event. 1920s attire is encouraged.
