Police Chief Paco Balderrama speaks outside a Fresno City Council budget meeting, reaffirming his commitment to continue in his role. In June of 2024, Mayor Jerry Dyer’s administration announced it launched an investigation into Balderrama for “an inappropriate off-duty relationship he was involved in with a non-city employee.” According to a published report, the alleged relationship was with the spouse of a Fresno police officer, lasting more than two years. The police chief resigned on June 24th, 2024.

On May 1st, 2024, Fresno State Shows the Nation How a Peaceful Palestinian Protest is Done. More than 150 Palestinian supporters protested the war in Gaza with a sit-in at Fresno State. The event went off peacefully as planned. University President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval appeared, but said he was not taking sides.

On July 24th, 2024, Tim Skipper, who replaced Jeff Tedford but with an interim tag, embraces the opportunity to lead the Bulldogs. As the first Black head football coach at Fresno State, Skipper's hiring is a historic moment for the program. Skipper was replaced by Matt Entz following the 2024 season.

Builders, financers, and city and state leaders cut the ribbon back in October of 2024 on the 81-unit mixed income Hotel Fresno. The project received 2,000 applications for the units priced at 30% to 70% of local median income. Mayor Dyer said the 81 units brings downtown Fresno a little closer to his goal of 10,000 units.
