Six people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint on Friday at Shaw and Brawley avenues, the Fresno Police Department reported.
Officers contacted 203 vehicles and issued 29 citations for driving without a license or with a suspended or revoked license.
Police said DUI checkpoint locations are selected based on reported impaired driving-related crashes, with the goal of keeping the roads safe by removing suspected impaired drivers.
Funding for the operation came from a grant through the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Fresno police said the next DUI enforcement operation will be a saturation patrol scheduled for April 18.
