Authorities closed a section of Highway 59 Monday due to police activity, the California Highway Patrol said.

The closure affects the stretch between Snelling Road and Montgomery Street in Snelling. CHP officials said there is no estimated time for reopening.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
