A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South and Cedar avenues in Fresno County left one man dead and another injured Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 74-year-old man driving a Mazda pickup westbound on South Avenue failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a northbound Kenworth truck and trailer on Cedar Avenue, authorities said.

The impact sent both vehicles into a residential fence at the northeast corner of the intersection.

The Mazda driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 61-year-old Kenworth driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

CHP officials said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash.

Investigators are seeking information from the public and encourage anyone with details about the incident to contact the Fresno Area CHP at (559) 262-0400.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
