The founder of the primary super PAC supporting Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign warns that their internal polling is less “rosy” than public surveys suggest, indicating tighter races in key states Reuters reported Monday.
“Our numbers are much less rosy than what you’re seeing in the public,” said Chauncey McLean, president of Future Forward, during a Chicago event linked to the Democratic National Convention on Monday.

Harris leads in a FiveThirtyEight poll compilation, with 46.6% to Donald Trump’s 43.8%, and has gained ground in several battleground states. However, McLean cautioned that Harris has not yet fully rebuilt Biden’s 2020 coalition, emphasizing the need for detailed policy positions.
McLean’s group, which has raised hundreds of millions, plans a significant advertising push before Election Day, with $250 million remaining. He noted that Harris’ recent momentum stems from young voters of color, expanding her reach in Sunbelt states like Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Despite Harris having multiple paths to victory, McLean labeled Pennsylvania a “coin flip.”
“We have it tight as a tick, and pretty much across the board,” he said.
