A 14-year-old boy, who is a student at Sanger West High School and whom authorities say has connections to a local street gang, has been apprehended by Fresno County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives for the alleged murder of 55-year-old Ruben Ramirez of Parlier.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 12, around 5:15 p.m., when the sheriff’s office received a distress call about a shooting victim. Deputies arrived at the intersection of Bethel and Jefferson avenues in Del Rey, where they discovered Ramirez in a vehicle, succumbing to a gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Ramirez was shot in Del Rey a few minutes prior to the deputies’ arrival. A friend, in an attempt to get him to safety, had been driving him away from the scene but had to pull over due to the severity of Ramirez’s injury.

The authorities are urging anyone with further information about this case to contact detective Aurelio Flores at (559) 600-8208 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867.
