A local documentary spotlighting stories of hope and resilience will make its premiere Wednesday evening at the Tower Theatre.
The Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health teamed with 14 local storytellers to share their journeys in “Experiencing Hope.” Their goal: eliminate mental health stigmas and inspire others to seek help.
Behavioral Health developed and produced the 90-minute documentary. Department officials say they hope residents will see the documentary and embrace its positive messages.
“I heard about this project in February and have been anticipating it since,” said Fresno County Chief Administrative Officer Paul Nerland in a news release. “I’m very excited about the county’s effort to kick off May’s Mental Health Month in Fresno County.”
Doors open at 5 p.m., and the screening starts at 5:40 p.m. You can reserve seats at this link. Admission is free.
Following the film’s conclusion, there will be a question-and-answer session with the storytellers. Some of them include:
- Rodney Lowery, executive director, Resiliency Center
- Jason Williams, co-founder, Brain Wise Solutions
- Angela Cuevas-Pena, program supervisor, Central Valley Suicide Prevention Lifeline
ABC30 reporter Amanda Aguilar is the event host.
