Germany debuted the first passenger rail line with entirely hydrogen-powered trains on Wednesday, according to CNN.
Fourteen hydrogen trains powered by fuel cell propulsion will exclusively run on a route in Bremervörde, Lower Saxony.

The trains are emissions-free and low-noise, with only steam and condensed water comprising the exhaust. They have a range of 621 miles and can run an entire day on a single tank of hydrogen.
The top speed is 87 mph, but the range on the line will be 50 to 75 mph.
“Emission-free mobility is one of the most important goals for ensuring a sustainable future,” Henri Poupart-Lafarge, the CEO of train-builder Alstom, said in a statement.
