The team at Community Medical Centers says it is overwhelmed by the outpouring of donations and support during this unique and challenging time of COVID-19.

Can’t Accept Homemade Food Items

“Some of the items brought to Community’s donation center from generous donors include hand sanitizer, bleach, cleaning products, gloves, medical-grade masks, handmade masks, coveralls, goggles, face shields, and other items on (our) needs list,” said Christa Atchley, Donation Manager for Community Medical Centers.
Atchley says that although homemade food items can’t be accepted, the hospital can accept catered food purchased or donated from restaurants.
On Monday, Community Medical Foundation CEO Katie Zenovich had told GV Wire: “We’re feeling it. And we’re hoping that everyone helps us step up to help the care providers protect everyone because we need to protect everyone who comes to us in need, physicians and nurses are the first ones at the front line, and they need masks and we are burning through anywhere from 4,000 to 5,000 masks a day.”

Over the last few days, donors and businesses have brought items like donuts, coffee, pizza, tacos, lasagna, salads, and everything from breakfast foods to desserts and more.
The hospital asks that people call in advance to let them know they’d like to deliver these items to hospital caregivers who are, “working long shifts and taking care of Valley patients.”

Fresno County Health Needs Donations

Fresno County has created a donation website for people to help donate unused safety equipment.
County Public Information officer Jordan Scott said, “We’ve had some small quantities of supplies offered so far. These include surgical gloves, N95 masks, anti-viral masks, and safety glasses.”
The County is accepting the following items:

  • CPAP machines
  • Face shields
  • Hand sanitizer
  • N95 masks
  • Surgical gloves
  • Surgical gowns
  • Ventilators

Valley Children’s Hospital Accepts ‘In Person’ Donations

Valley Children’s Hospital is accepting commercial products. Donations must be in unopened, original packaging and meet approved hospital standards. Donation categories include:

  • Masks (N95, surgical, and procedure)
  • Disinfecting wipes such as Clorox or Sani-cloth wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Face shields
  • Goggles and eye shields
  • Isolation or surgical gowns
  • CAPR/PAPR machines and disposables

Donations can be delivered in-person to Valley Children’s Hospital Professional Center, 9300 Valley Children’s Place, in Madera, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The Professional Center is on the west side of the hospital campus. Signs will direct you to the location and staff will meet you outside to accept donations.
If you would like to connect directly with Valley Children’s supply team about large donations or need to make arrangements for deliveries outside donation hours, or if you would like to make a financial contribution toward their supply needs, contact their team via email at covid19supplies@valleychildrens.org
